Buick Tops the 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

The 2022 U.S. Initial Quality study identifies the number of problems per 100 vehicles based on 84,165 consumers’ feedback – both buyers and lessees.. The study analyzes responses to 223 questions pertaining to nine categories, including the following:

  • Controls and Displays
  • Exterior
  • Driving assistance features
  • Interior
  • Powertrain
  • Seats
  • Climate control
  • Overall driving experience

Pandemic-related concerns, like supply chain issues and rising prices, caused many brands’ quality to decrease, according to David Amodeo, Director of Global Automotive at J.D. Power. Despite mass market auto brands averaging 175 problems per 100 vehicles, General Motors avoided this trend and landed a top spot in this year’s study.
